ASGSB 2010 Meeting

Electronic Submission of Expanded Abstract Manuscript

Those authors who wish to submit their expanded abstracts may do so following the steps as noted below. Those two-page abstracts that are accepted will appear along with review articles from the 2010 meeting symposia in an issue of Gravitational and Space Biology, which is scheduled for publication in the summer/fall of 2010.

After you have written your expanded abstract.

  1. You will submit your expanded abstract as an electronic file.  Acceptable word processing programs for expanded abstract submission are (1) IBM-compatible: WordPerfect 7 or Microsoft Word 2003 or older; (2) MacIntosh: "save as" Word or Wordperfect for PC (MS-DOS) or 'save as' Word for Windows.
  2. Naming Your Expanded Abstract Manuscript File: Computer files of manuscripts MUST use a file title as follows -- first three letters as the Primary Topic Code used when your meeting abstract was submitted for the annual meeting; next 2 or 3 letters as first author's initials; then 2 random numbers. Thus, a manuscript submitted by Jane X. Doe in the Topic area of Cell Biology would be CBIJXD72
  3. Click on the "Submit Manuscript" button to submit your abstract.

Instructions and Style Guidelines for Expanded Abstract Manuscript

A sample template has been provided. Authors should download this template and replace what is there with their own text. The downloadable template will both serve as a sample as well as contain the formatting (including maximum length) for the expanded abstracts. Note that only those who submitted abstracts to this year’s meeting will be eligible to submit expanded abstracts.

The main criteria for publication will be that the research presented is original and of significant interest to the community of gravitational and space biologists, that the main conclusions are supported by data presented, and that the data presented are adequately and appropriately discussed. As needed, review editors will recommend revisions required as a condition of acceptance and publication, and specify deadlines for completion of these revisions. Because the two-page abstracts are considered original contributions, authors will not be able to use the same Figures or Tables they have published elsewhere in their two-page abstract, but they will be able to use the materials published in this abstract in other publications without seeking permission of ASGSB. The policy of virtually all journals would preclude the use of the exact same Figures and Tables published in the expanded abstracts in another original publication, but these Figures and Tables could certainly be used in review articles with appropriate attribution.
