NASA SPACE LIFE SCIENCES TRAINING PROGRAM: STUDIES BY THE ADVANCED LIFE SUPPORT (ALS) EMPHASIS GROUP. I. Dunn, G. Koerner, S. Bernick, C. Spruill, C. Taulien, V. Hsu, S. Thompson, M.Tabor, A. Students in the six-week program were involved in science research and engineering activities pertaining to the NASA ALS program. Research efforts included: The design, construction and evaluation of a sealed Mars simulation chamber; microbiological studies in hydroponic systems; studies of plant micronutrient disorders; investigations into grey water recycling in plant culture systems; and biological filters for air treatment. The students participated in a seminar at the end of the program and presented the results of their efforts as well as submitting a final paper.
